On November 15th, join hundreds of sisters as you participate in the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom Together We Rise, a virtual gathering.

  • Workshop descriptions are listed below. 
  • Ticket price is $43, this entitles you to a FULL-DAY admission ticket (which includes 2 keynote presentations, special guest appearances, 2 workshops, networking sessions, vendor fair, charge card fees and Hopin administrative costs and much more.)

AM WORKSHOP SESSIONS

  • AM #1: "Why Interfaith Cooperation Matters More Than Ever" with Dr. Eboo Patel (Leading Expert in Interfaith Engagement, IFYC)"
    Eboo will discuss the role of interfaith work in building a healthy religiously diverse democracy.

  • AM #2: "The Rise of Resistance" with Dr. Mehnaz Afridi (Director/HGI-Holocaust, Genocide and Interfaith Education Center)
    Mehnaz will be discussing the history and also the many great initiatives of both since 2016 towards another. I will provide action items and strategies. 

  • AM #3: "We Can’t Breathe: Coming Together to Make Good Trouble" with Dr. Todd Allen (Civil Rights Expert)
    Our nation is in need of people who care about racial justice, but what form should this caring take? Grounded in the black freedom struggle of the 1950s-60s, this session will explore the voices of women in the Movement and what they can teach us about activism in this present historical moment.

  • AM #4: "Combatants Rising Together" with Tarek Massarani (Center for Non-Violent Communication) and representatives from Combatants for Peace
    Combatants for  Peace activists from Israel and Palestine share their personal stories, and the journey they have each taken as actors in conflict/occupation to peace-builders, working together to achieve peace, equality and freedom for all.

  • PM #5: "Asylum Advocacy: 2020 and Beyond" with Representatives from HIAS (Taking Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers)
    As we look ahead to the next four years, join HIAS for a discussion and action planning session about the current state of the U.S. asylum system. HIAS staff will provide up-to-the-minute policy updates and information about how to effectively advocate for a safe and humane U.S. asylum system. Participants will leave with a game plan for taking action locally and nationally.
