Co-Robotics Curriculum: Robots, Drones, + Humans
This poster presents a co-robotics curriculum, designed to broaden the participation of middle-school Latina girls in CS, which combines humans, robots, and drones in a disaster recovery challenge.
Golden ratio of 90-minute makercoding training program
This session presents a formula for a 90-minute makercoding training program for creating a smart police robot, developed at the Daegu National Science Museum. The golden ratio includes 10 minutes of model story, 35 minutes each of block assembly and coding, and 10 minutes of visual storytelling.
Programming in the Palm of your Hand with Ozobots!
Ozobots are small robots that can be programmed on paper, via apps, and on PCs or Chromebooks. Students learn sequential thinking, syntax, and debugging while playing games and creating racecourses.
Research Experience for Teachers as Professional Development
This poster session will provide an overview of a two-summer research experience for teachers at Rice University and its results for AP Physics classroom instruction.
Rollin' with Robots
This session explores ways to incorporate robots in the middle school CS curriculum. I will share my successes with Ozobots and Cue Roborts and help you organize and learn from my experiences.
You Don't Have to be a Genius to Learn How to Code
This poster shows how I created a comprehensive CS curriculum for grades seven and eight, using robotics, Scratch, Code.org, and other platforms.
Introducing Computer Science with Processing
Our school uses Processing (Processing.org) to introduce students in grades six and up to Java programming. This poster will include static student work, and screens will be used to demonstrate dynamic capabilities.
Playing with Purpose: More Ideas to "Play" in Your Classroom
Using three books as inspiration, I will explore how purposeful play, inclusive environments, and a positive culture improve student outcomes.
Preparing the K-20 Cybersecurity Workforce
This session teaches how to build from scratch and/or enhance an existing STEM or cybersecurity program at minimal or no cost, by partnering with NICERC and the Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity Academy.
